Who's had a baby go home on oxygen from NICU?

My son is coming home tomorrow finally!!! He's 5 weeks 4 days old, adjusted gestational age 35 weeks 4 days.
He's coming home on oxygen and I'm so nervous and anxious about it. What will I do if something happens? Will something happen? How is going out with the travel tank? How is it being home with them on oxygen?
I hope it's not too hard to stop my older son from playing with his stuff. Or that the monitor doesn't malfunction, or something doesn't happen to the tank...ughh!! I'm freaking out lol

My DD didn't need to, but my friend's baby did and is still on it. She was a 23 weeker. She honestly hasn't left the house with her so idk about going out. They told her not to. She hasn't had any problems with tanks. She has long tubes so she can put it down and move about the room freely. Congrats on the little guy coming home!

I have no experience with an infant on oxygen at home, but my sister (foster) had oxygen at home when she was 2 til about 11. The portable tanks were a pita, it had a carry case and only one long strap to go over your shoulder. It was heavy and awkward. At home she had a very long tubing that she could reach all lengths of the house with and the tank itself just stayed in the foyer. We had no problem with it. She would sometimes get stuck where the tubing got stuck somewhere. But other than that, it just became a part of our everyday.

Congrats on the little guy finally coming home! Hope you're all settled into your new place
I can't say for certain about babies on O2, but in dealing with O2 for my adult residents, there are a LOT of smaller options for on-the-go traveling. Some tanks can very easily portable. You should talk to the hospital about options and if they can recommend a medical supply place that has to-go tanks or smaller options for babies that you can look at.

We had 2 tanks, a small portable one and a big one. We could use the portable to move from room to room and in the car. It wasn't bad besides lugging it around.

Thank you everyone. We've been home for 3 days now and it's not as hard(I guess?) as I was expecting although I don't really know what I was expecting. It's more of a pain in the ass than anything but WELL worth it to have him home!!!
