Not wanting to eat formula

My son is almost 6 months old and for the past couple of days he has not wanted to take his bottle. He will eat cereal and baby food but when I give him his bottle he sucks until his mouth is full and then spits it out. He doesn't have a fever or any other signs of illness except hes had a cold forever now. I called his pedi and they don't seem concerned and said to bring him in if he starts to lose weight. Has any one else had a baby that decided it didn't want formula anymore?

Never went through that but they do still need it until a year  

could he need a faster flow nipple?

Hes on a y cut because his formula has rice starch in it. He just doesn't want to swallow he spits whole mouthfuls out.

can you stop putting rice in and use a normal nipple?

I don't add rice, he is on similac spit up because he has GERD. He has to have a y cut nipple or it clogs and he has been using one for months so it's not the issue, he just started acting this way.

Maybe try another formula that's not so thick?

He is on the spit up for a reason, he has horrible GERD and it is the only thing that keeps him from throwing up most of what he has eaten after every meal. He has been on the same formula and nipples for four months and it has never been an issue. It has to be something else that is causing him not to take his bottle like normal.

It was maybe around that time my DD went through something similar due to teething... She thrashed when we tried to feed her and wouldn't eat. Baby Tylenol helped. It also only lasted like a week and then she went back to eating normally.

I was thinking it might be from teething. I noticed he kept chomping down on the nipple and it would make weird noises when he released and the nipple filled back up with formula.

dd does this when constipated and teething.. she was doing it a couple days ago too. she was eating 8 oz every 3-4 hours then only wanted 4 oz every 3 hours... and her third tooth cut yesterday
