Hcg levels and due date

posted 11th Mar
Hello Ladies! I am trying to figure out my EDD because I have conflicting stories from doctors! I know as a fact my LMP was Sept 4th 2012. Which puts my due date June 11th 2013! My MFM says my LMP was deffinately Sept 9th! Ok we weren't trying to concieve but I was tracking my periods so when we were trying to concieve we would have an idea on ovulation! But anyways my MFM says my EDD is June 16th. I am ok with the EDD of June 16th but! Can you go by HCG levels alone? If so mine are as follows 9/18/12 less then 2. 10/8/12 316 and 10/16/12 5720. I know the charting for HCG levels overlaps a little but the last levels are that of 5 weeks along! Which put me at Sept 11 2012. So there is NO way that my LMP could be Sept 9th right? It would be the Sept 4th? Sorry if I confused yalls but trying to figure out my exact week I am in! I also get scans everyweek and her head and legs and all are measuring 1 week ahead but her belly is 2 weeks ahead.

HOLY Smurf.

You're due 40 weeks since your last period.

No, because HCG levels vary so much from person to person and pregnancy to pregnancy.

Holy Smurf I asked a smurfing question being I have 2 doctors and get conflicting EDD! I know Its 40 weeks! But my point is I know when my LMP was but my high risk doctor said no that it was this day by scans. So you my friend can keep your nasty ass comments to yourself. You always say stupid smurf when someone asks a question!! And to Squeaky Mcgee Thats what I thought but wasn't 100% sure if there was a guideline that they went by or not!

Who made a nasty comment?

I would just go by your LMP or the earliest ultrasound.

honestly your lmp is only a mere guideline. its the ovulation date that really counts. for example, my lmp was 9/15/12 but i am a late ovulator and i know that we got pregnant on 10/10/12 (without a doubt) so what they did was they adjusted my due date according to my ovulation date so maybe you ovulated 5 days after textbook says you should have and that is why they adjusted your dates. i hope this helps you understand why your both coming up with different dates.

do you know what day you ovulated? your lmp is not what is important, its your ovulation day. your lmp is only a guideline. your baby is due 38 weeks after ovulation, then add 2 weeks for the 40 total weeks.

The doctors use Naegele's Rule, which is based on the LMP. It may not be what's important, but that's what they go by. It's all just an estimate anyway.

not always, like in my case, the doctors used my ovulation date. there is no other possible day we could have conceived. they adjusted my due date to my ovulation not my lmp. if you do the math you will see what im talking about. my lmp was 9/15/12 and my ovulation date was 10/10/12 and my due date is 7/3/13. your right that most use your lmp but when you have people who are charting cycles and using opk's and ttc, they are willing to listen. all of my ultrasound measurements have been exactly on to the day based off my ovulation date.

I don't know when I ovulated cuz according to the opks for 2 months including conception month came up negative! And cant really go by cycle because mine was messed up due to ovarian cysts and diabetes. Plus going into labor and delivering 18 weeks early! The only reason I was asking because they are talking of inducing (I am 100% against) 1 week after taking out my cerclage! And I know the longer she is in there the better!

what week are they planning on inducing? 5 days is really not that much difference but you can always schedule it 5 more days out to make you feel more comfortable. talk to your doctor about it. you have a say in your care.

my stitch comes out the week of May 19th. So that puts it 3 weeks early! I am fine with 5 days! But 3 weeks seems a little extreme!
