posted 10th Mar
What do you take? Does it help? Side effects? What do you feel like when you need the meds/behavior?

Sounds like anxiety to me. You probably have more going on than just anxiety but yeah it sounds like it to me.

I had post partum depression pretty bad that ended up branching into anxiety. With anxiety, I had a hard time breathing, I felt like something was preventing me from breathing. It'd happen so often. I was put on zoloft which was mainly for my depression, it made my anxiety a million times worse. It wasn't just a hard time breathing, I began to get paranoid that I was dying because I had so much pressure on my chest. I went and bought mucinex because I thought it was some sort of phlegm in my chest. Finally I stopped taking the zoloft. I was still BEYOND depressed and my anxiety was still bad, but not as bad as it was when I was on zoloft. Finally I saw a doctor who actually listened to me and cared. She prescribed me lexapro. That's for anxiety, depression and panic attacks. She had to argue with the pharmacy about giving it to me (I was on military healthcare and they LOVE generics since they cover the cost completely) because there is no generic for lexapro.

I got it and it was amazing. Seriously. I started getting better and better. I started my divorce and continued to just get better. I felt like a huge weight was lifted off me. I was then able to eventually wean myself off. I still have bouts with my anxiety, only when I'm in insanely stressful situations, but my depression is controlled and my anxiety is fixed once whatever the situation is passes.

I credit lexapro with saving my life. I honestly don't think I'd be here right now had I not finally gotten a prescription that covered what I needed.

I take Lexapro, 10mg normally. I'm actually going to the doctors tomorrow for my 6 week PP visit and am going to ask to be put back on it because I can barely function but Idk if ill be able to take Lexapro because I'm breast feeding. But Lexapro works great for me, it takes about 2-3 weeks to work to its full effect but It makes my anxiety go away completely and I'm a much happier person. The only side effect was it caused me to gain weight but I think it was more of making me not care what I ate or how much I ate. And in the beginning I would get a little tired right after taking it.

That's my biggest problem too with anxiety is feeling like I can't breathe, or like I feel like I forgot how to because it gets so shallow, like I'm suffocating, it is so horrible. I've actually passed out from having panic attacks by hyperventilating so badly, it's so scary so now my anxiety comes on whenever I'm driving especially with DD because I'm so scared of passing out again and the car crashing. And whenever I'm around people in public I'm scared of passing out in front of people.
That is why I'm scared to try any new medication, I was first prescribed Lexapro and I'm glad because it works great and had no issues. Although it took me a lot of convincing to take it bc I was stupid and read all of the side effects so I freaked myself out.

It really is a life saver!
