Pregnant with possible problems

My very close friend was told early on that her baby would have a growth restriction, possible heart defects, and possible downs. As time goes on, the doctors aren't giving her many answers. She is still unclear of a due date. She is due sometime in the next 6 weeks. She has been going once a week for NSTs and is now going four times this week for different tests. As it appears now, the baby isn't moving much, it will be small due to growth restriction which is caused by having only two chambers in the umbilical chord, which also means possible heart defects. The baby's heart rate will go from 140 to 190 during an NST. Does anyone know what she may expect during labor and after birth? I want to be there to support her. She was stressed out when she first found out (who wouldn't be), but she likes to bottle things up, so I don't know how much she is not telling me. I am SO excited for the baby to be here. I just want to help her as much as I can if things turn out less than perfect.

What she has sounds like a two vessel cord, I have it too and I get monthly ultrasou day and weekly nsts and so far everything is going good yes the Risk of heart defects and kidney problems are higher then normal pregnancy but not by much, I have heard of lots of moms who have delivered naturally with two vessel cord and everything was perfectly normal, and it is good that durning the nsts the heart rage goes from 140 -190 they look for that Jump in heart rate when they move it means they are not stressed I wouldn't worry too much, and after birth they might test his kidneys or something just to make sure everything's ok

I'm guessing she decided against the amnio? They are probably just going to run a bunch of extra tests at birth due to the growth restriction and two vessel cord as well as do extra monitoring during labor. Unless baby goes into distress she should be able to have a normal delivery.

Yes. Thanks ladies. That's exactly what I am thinking right now. She had very poor care in the first few months even though she has great insurance. I think the baby will be fine. I am only worried about her waiting too long to go to ER due to possible stress on the baby.
