TTC on Medicaid. D&D

So this came up in another thread yesterday and I figured it's be a good debate.

Do you think it's morally okay to TTC when you're reliant on Medicaid throughout the pregnancy?

Someone said "I am not going to let my lack of insurance get in the way of becoming a mother."

Do you think that's a valid excuse?

If they don't have any kids, nah it wouldn't bother me. Maybe the kid would help them focus on making more money and not need Medicaid anymore. But adding another kid? Hell no.

I think it's a pretty poor choice.

I think its irresponsible, especially when you have money for other things. Lots of money supposedly.

where i live we have free healthcare so IMO its not different to me having the government pay for my hospital stay and midwife appointment.

Imo, it's.fine. You.spend years paying into it, might as well use it too.

I don't think it's a big deal.

I think that depends on how they are going to TTC. Regular methods, I'm not sure it's a big deal. IVF, I am a little iffy on. If they can't afford insurance, how can they afford the IVF treatments.

I am having a hard time being objective and forming just an opinion on that particular statement. I'll just go with...no.

But if they can't afford insurance, how do they plan on paying for a child? Should a child be used as a tool to hope that people get their finances together, or should children be added in only when finances are straight?

Is it really another tax payer's job to provide you with insurance because you choose to have a child when you can't afford to?

Not everyone has access to insurance through their jobs. Why can't u have a kid just because this country doesn't offer everyone insurance equally? We both have good jobs and college degrees but no insurance is offered. We unfortunately don't make much money because economy here sucks so we are Medicaid eligible. That means we shouldn't be allowed to have kids?
