Seasonal depression in the spring?

posted 10th Mar
Does anyone else get this?

I'm getting majorly depressed. Moving into what could be a major depressive episode

(I'm bipolar with BPD, MDD, and a few other tidbits in there)

I get so depressed in the spring, I'm alright in the summer, I come alive in the fall and I'm so happy in the snow.

Why do I get depressed in the spring? Isn't it supposed to be the other way around? Shouldn't I get depressed in the fall when the days are get dark and all that?

I see my psychiatrist tomorrow to go over a possible med change but I really wanna kick this before it gets worse

i dont but i learned in psych class that seasonal depression is sometiems related to memories of that season, like if someone died or wahtever.

also, while winter makes everyone depressed there is a trending with spring suicides and suicide attempts because people dont have the energy or will to do something like that while they are full on depressed, its when they are coming out of it-in the spring.
not sure how true that is or if its relevant to your case but idk its what they told us in psych class.

See I like spring. Gardening and flowers and dirt and sun and stuff.

I just get mentally depressed

I cannot think of anything bad that has happened in the spring. Nothing that would cause all this

SAD can be caused by low vitiman D levels which can take time to deplete.....if u get ample sun in summer & fall your D level goes up but can slowly deplete during winter causing the major drop to affect you in spring. This is what happened to my husband and the dr put him on high dose vitiman D supplements

Last year, around this time, I was taking the prescription vit D for low levels.

I'm due for bloodwork anyway. I should ask them to run a screen for D while they are at it

I don't remember. Last spring was especially hard for me. I had a ton of health issues crop up and was in and out of the hospital for a couple months. Doctors 3-4 days a week and all that
