auto immune deficiency disease

Does anyone have this or know of anyone with it? I have a few questions

My mom and brother have Celiac which is apparently an auto-immune disease. Not sure if that could be helpful.

meds like AZT can help suppress her viral load ... basically just eating a well balanced diet, exercising and avoiding high risk behavior like drug, alcohol and cigarette use....

she has AIDS or HIV?

also, avoiding people that are sick. Once you have AIDS your immuune system is so compromised even a simple cold could be detrimental to your health or even kill someone with AIDS

ETA it's not really relevant how she got is so I'm not trying to pry or sound rude

but all she can do is live the healthiest lifestyle she can... they are experimenting with an HIV vaccine now but that won't be available to the public for a few years i'm sure but basically when given to people with AIDS it's supposed to greatly reduce the viral load

She use to use drugs but never shot up with a needle. She was just diagnosed with it like 2days ago and the dr didn't give her a whole lot of info. Plus her grandma died the day after she was diagnosed so I am trying to find out as much info as I can for her right now till she goes back to the dr.

lol it's ok everytime I hear the word auto immune at school my first thought is HIV until I realize definiciency syndrome is almost never included lol

and whenever i was pregnant and the doctor would use the word immuno compromised I would cringe lol just because it's what I associate it with

Was she ever diagnosed with HIV? AIDS usually happens after HIV infection last 10+ years with no medication

AIDS is ACQUIRED Immuno Deficiency Syndrome. Not exactly the same as what OP is talking about. Something that is autoimmune is inherited, not acquired. Though everything you mentioned would still apply

Does your friend know if it's just general autoimmune disease, or is there a more specific diagnosis? I know there are different suggestions for extending life depending on if it effects certain parts of the body.

No all they told her is it's auto immune deficiency disease. smurf drs didn't give her a whole lot of info.
