14 mo. old hurt his legs on the slide!!

It was really nice today so we decided to take our 14 month old to the park.....

Daddy decided to slide down the slide with him. He sat him in between his legs instead of on his lap. When they went down the rubber from his shoes caught onto the side and it bent his knees under him! They didn't bend in any weird way but they might have hyperextended. But it hurt him pretty bad he cried out in pain and I haven't heard him cry like that before!

He wouldn't walk for while and when he did he was limping on his left leg. We called SO's mom who is an xray tech at our hospital and we brought him in and she xrayed his hips down (but didn't get his ankles) She said everything looked ok in that department but he could've tore a tendon or ligament.. She said to take him home and see how he does after he's rested.

We got home and I gave him so ibuprofen and put him down for a nap. He is still sleeping but I am so worried about him   Has anyone had anything similar happen?! I can't believe it hurt him so bad. I just want him to be ok! To top it off we don't have health insurance currently because SO started a new job 3 months ago and is still in the probationary period so he isn't eligible until next month.

my 3yo sprained his ankle going down the slide when he was one.....from doing the exact same thing

just watch him while he walks around. He is most likely just fine mommas. Don't worry too much. if it starts to swell in the back, take him in and have them do an MRI to see if anything is torn. He most likely sprained it and will be back up and running in no time

also, my sons pedi said it was ok to put ben-gay on it to help with the pain.

I cant believe this has happened to someone else!! I don't feel so bad now   Did they do anything for the sprain? Ive never had a sprain and aren't familiar with them at all.. I wish the xray had gotten his ankles though!

Thank you! I hope everythings ok, when he tried walking right after it happened he would cry.. he is still sleeping so hopefully it wont be as bad when he wakes up! It happened about 4 hours ago now.

all they told me to do was wrap it and give motrin and bengay

I hope he is ok. I have heard this is very common and actually saw something about not going down the slide with a child.

oh my gosh. We literally just got home and they think he has a hairline tibia fracture!!! I am definitely passing this on to my friends!! I wish I had read this before

I know I passed it on too. Reading the comments and everything I didn't know how common until I saw it on Facebook last summer.
