severe heartburn

It was so ungodly bad last night, that I blacked out..quite a few times actually.

It would go mid back and travel up and spread across my upper back, and chest BURNING
I kept burping and then I would finally throw up.

I called my nurse last night and she told me to eat tums and drink lots of water and try to relax.

I thought I was legit dying last night for like 4 hours.
I guess Checkers is out of my life the rest of this pregnancy.... HOLY smurf.

can you not take prilosec or prevacid?
my dr told me i could, but i was a lot further along than you so idk.

I'm going to call this week and see if there is something he can prescribe me or something for when this happens again. It was so awful, my husband was scared something worse was happening to me. I was rolling around on the floor crying and screaming. He even stayed home from his hockey game because he was scared something was seriously wrong with me.
I have never had heartburn that bad in my entire life. I knew it had to be that when after I would throw up I felt some relief.

That sounds horrible, poor mama.   Maybe your doctor can prescribe you some Pepcid or something? My OB prescribed me that when I was pregnant with my daughter, and it was pretty early on that he prescribed it. It helps with my IBS but it also came in handy when my heart burn hit full force.

really? that's odd. my OB said "prilosec, prevacid, any of those otc antiacid meds". maybe pepcid like the other girl said? im not sure of the different effects of all of them on pregnancy.
oh, or mylanta? My OB also said that stuff is great but I didn't want to drink any of it.

The doctor told me to take zantac. I take it every 12 hours around the clock and it is a miracle lol. I have actually drove to the store at 3am just to get some. I am stocked up on it now.

He said I cannot take any excess aspirin and A LOT of that has it in there. I am high risk and on blood thinners so a lot of my stuff is limited I guess.  
I'm calling tomorrow to see what can be done for me...or I might die.

Have you tried eating mustard? I know it sounds weird but it helps me. What I do is get a teaspoon full swallow it, let it coat my throat. Do not drink anything afterwards or else it's just like your washing it right down. I do take more if needed. But the key is to let it coat your esophagus and throat good before you drink anything.

I have had some serious heartburn to the point where I would not sleep at all at night and I dread eating. The only thing I found that worked is Zantac. It works wonders and it isnt expensive!

It has Asprin? 0.o I never knew that...I wonder why they gave it to me then, I was high risk too & I have a bleeding disorder.

Talk to your dr. I thought i had un bearable heartburn with pain in my back and it wound up up being gall bladder attacks.

oh okay. that makes sense.
well you could always just do baking soda like the old women i suppose! but don't over do that either.

peppermint works wonders too
like candy canes or the lil swirly candies.. or gum..
it might take a few candies but it helps me :/

milk used to make my worse

bless your heart during my pregnancy I as well had terrible heartburn.. JUST LIKE THAT!! I was sick all night one night with it.. finally threw up about 5 in the morning and got some relief.. Club Soda helps its sort of an alka seltzer like.. Maybe your doctor can give you something!
