Sleeping all day?
posted 9th Mar
Ok so it's almost noon and my 2 year old is still sleeping. He normally wakes up at 630 so this is out of the ordinary. He gets these stomach issues once a month where he throws up all morning, naps and it just goes away. He had this on Wednesday and he barely ate. Then Thursday I'm not sure how much he ate cause I was stuck in bed all day with either a stomach bug or food poisoning. Yesterday he ate a bowl of cereal in the morning, a few crackers and then nothing the rest of the day. He still has not eaten today and was awake for about 15 mins when I moved him to the couch but is back out. Anyone else deal with something like this? He doesn't have a fever and hasn't had one.

have you talked to his pedi about this?

Have you taken him to the doctor for his stomach issues? that doesn't seem normal, at all.
Esp if it's coming once a month...hmm.

I talked to him about the monthly throw up episodes and he said to keep a food diary but I'll be running myself in circles because I won't find what it is and it'll go away over time. The not eating a lot we figured he's not feeling well still cause its been a very busy week. (We took a 6 hour car trip to az on Sunday and back on wed for a family emergency) it didn't bug me as much as it is now since now he's sleeping so much today.

The doc didn't seem concerned at all about the stomach issue because its once a month and he's heard of this happening quite often. He said if it starts happening more often to contact him.

I would be worried about dehydration.

That was my thought!!!
It is not normal for this to be recurring.

He drinks a ton of water. He chooses it over everything else. I'm gonna go and get some pedia pops here soon though just to be on the safe side.

yeah..i don't mean to scare you or worry you..but it really doesn't sound normal. I would bring it up to his pedi again or maybe go to another dr to see what they have to say?

Find a new pedi. Ask that pedi for a second opinion.

I have and no one has an explanation for it. I think the reason why it doesn't worry me so much is I talked with my mother in law as well and my husband had the same issue when he was a child. He grew out of it.

sounds like he is allergic to something your giving him. that is why dr suggested a food diary. if everytime he is sick you take him in, they will eventually get serious and figure it out. hes your son but i would be a little more demanding than you sound like you are in finding out what is bugging him. poor guy
