What happens to your insulin if you don't do the proper air/medicine exchange?

Do you do the air exchange I take 21 units and before I pull out the insulin I have to put in 21 units of air. Do you have to do that?

Typically you don't get all of it drawn up.

The reason you do that is for exact measurements. because when you shoot in (In your case) 21 units air, you get back 21 units of fluid. It has to do with the pressure and what not.

Yup what she said. Because you put in 21 unites of air and you get 21 unites of fluid typically. I wouldve quoted but I clicked reply before the post appeared

Thanks, I was concerned that it had something to do with messing up the insulin. I took insulin out the other night without putting in the full amount of air.
