how firm is it reeeeally?

posted 8th Mar
When you need to let something sit for at least 2-3 hours in the fridge, how firm is that time frame? I made peanut butter pie (skinny!) that I'm patiently waiting for to be ready. We are about to hit the 2 hour mark. Is exactly 2 hours okay? Or do you need more time?

This is what I made...

I want to say that when you refrigerate something for firmness it is done when you can cut through it and it still maintains it's form.

I just don't want to cut into it and mess it up before it's done lol

I know what you mean. I have the same problem when I try to make instant Cheesecake. I have never been able to make it successfully. For some reason (No matter what I do) it doesn't firm and it ends up being cheesecake flavored pudding on top of graham cracker crust.

If anything you can always cut into it just enough to see if it has firmed up in the middle.

I threw the chocolate syrup on it and took a peice out of the thing. It's not as firm as it could be, but...it's good enough for me! haha It's gooood!

Hey.. When you want something sweet.. It's not the appearance that matters anyways. It's the flavor and the sweetness. You should totally hook me up with this recipe though. (If you don't mind of course). My husband LOVES peanut butter and, I have been trying to figure out some new kind of dessert to make since Alyssa's gymnastics instructor just had a birthday. Would love to take him some kind of sweet dish as a birthday present.

ETA: Nevermind on the recipe thing. I am not sure where my mind is.. I didn't realize you linked it.

lol yep! I didn't use the natural PB though. I have like 5 PB's so I wasn't going to buy a completely new one for a few calories.

Yea.. I was looking at the recipe wondering if I have to use all these health conscience ingredients. Can I just use the ones that aren't specifically labeled as fat free, natural etc..?

Correct me if I am wrong but, I would imagine it doesn't change the measurements?

I guess in my case it wouldn't be called a "Skinny Peanut butter pie." Mine would be like, "The Fatty Peanut Butter Pie." Or something like that.

lol. I used a regular graham cracker crust (keebler), 1/3 fat philly cream cheese, powdered sugar, Reeses PB was the only one open so I used that instead of my Skippy Natural PB, and regular cool whip. I guess mine's not skinny either! haha But IDK how they normally make it.

I bet it would be delicious either way. Whether it's a health conscience recipe or not?

My husband and I have been together now for 5 and 1/2 years.. I told him a few months ago that I want to make No-Bake cookies and that I use to make them all the time when I was a kid and loved them. His exact words:

"You have known how to make those and never told me about it? Babe, those are my favorite kind of cookies." Then jokingly of course he added, "I want a divorce."

If you like Oatmeal and Peanut Butter you would really like No-Bake cookies. If you're interested I would more than happy to send you the link for the recipe I use.

Now.. I sent this same recipe to a friend of mine and she didn't have good luck with it. The cookies never firmed up for her so although still delicious, they were very gooey.

So make sure when you boil the mixture... To stir it frequently and to let it boil for a few minutes. (To be on the safe side I usually boil it for about 3 minutes).

Once they are put on the wax paper.. They don't take long to firm up. Serious give them like 20-30 minutes and they will be good to go.

Aaron absolutely LOVES them and will eat an entire batch to himself in a single day.

Not a problem. I love sharing recipes.

Oh if they're cookie junkies than most likely.

As for me I am content with homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies. The recipe I use for those is on the back of the Nestle Tollhouse Semi Sweet Morsels. I have made those sooo much I actually have the recipe memorized.

One of my Holiday favorites to make (And eat) is Banana Pudding. That's another thing Aaron chows on. (Haha, he isn't a picky eater at all and does not complain about any food I put in front of him).

Since you live back East I am more than positive you already have an amazing Banana Pudding recipe.

Actually, no. I've never had banana pudding and I've also never made it!
