Tuna/Fish!

posted 8th Mar
I just ate a can of tuna, 2 months ago I ate chevice, I always freak out after eating any sort of fish, or food prohibited during pregnancy. Is my baby ok? Is it safe to eat Tuna or Chevice?

It should be ... but google "eating fish while pregnant" it gives you a good list with different fish on it and a bad list ... that's what I did ... I know tuna should be ok just not a whole lot of it, but double check or call your doctor

I don't get the fear about fish, I mean I know about the mercury fear, but those are very specific fish that have high mercury content, I mean I am sure Japanese women eat sushi and fish all the time and their babies are fine.
i eat whatever I want, really. never had any issues at all.

tuna is one of the fish highest in mercury content. i would ask a doctor before indulging in tuna and other high mercury fish more than once a week. low mercury fish are encouraged no more than twice a week usually. any food that is uncooked runs a high risk of contracting lysteria which can be lethal to a fetus. pregnant women are much more likely to contract lysteria than other people due to an already lowered immune system.

EIDT: thats canned tuna, fresh tuna while higher than canned is still ok in moderation.

yes, a nurse at my midwife's office said if you eat at least two servings of fish a week, your baby will have 5 extra IQ points by kindergarten, apparently there was a study done. idk i love fish, so I eat it alot.
