potty training HELP!!

posted 8th Mar
So I work nights, and I want to start potty training Zachary. I think i'm going to take a week or two off so I can focus on it. He will be 3 in July. He showed interest a little before he turned 2 then lost all interest. We have been using a sticker chart, toys. No matter what he will not poop on the potty he will hold it till he gets off and gets a pull up on. He wont tell us when he has to go we have to put him on.

So I need suggestions on how to approach this, he picked out a cars toilet seat for the big boy potty. We have I'm a Big kid now ( a potty training book that was mine when i was little) and a book called Zachary's potty.

Don't put him in pull ups or diapers at all just underwear. Let him pick out some cool undies too

there is a childrens potty book you can get from the bookstore and read it with your child every day. it should help. i believe its the potty book but dont quote me. a book store would probably be better to help you find the book or your pediatrician. you could also look online. many children have issues going poop because to them it is part of their body and they feel like they dont want to get rid of it. try the potty book and see if it helps, it should. good luck.

Don't let him have the pull-up... at all. He will have to go on the toilet. If he goes in his underwear, make him help clean it up. It won't be fun, so it might encourage him to use the potty next time.

gosh im not sure but for that price you can try it. its been 10 years since i have had a baby, i will have to ask my pediatrician when the time comes again. but i know there are several out there to help with these issues. let us know how he fares. i have one way to solve it, but you wont want to. my mil took my son out to the back yard when he pooped his pants and sprayed him clean with the hose. that boy cried and cried but he never pooped his pants again. I was not home at the time or it would not have happened but it sure made life easier on me. like i said you wont want to try this method, lol. good luck hun.

im sure he will. one thing i did with my boys when they were potty training was i bought them their favorite character underwear and i sat down and had a talk with them letting them know that they could not get the character dirty. when they had an accident they felt bad they had soiled their favorite character. but i would strongly suggest you do away with the pull ups, asap. only use for bedtime if he is still waking up wet.

He picked out Thomas the train underwear yesterday and was so excited. I explained to him that we didn't wanna get them dirty and he looked at me like i was speaking a foreign language lmao

Ryan didn't really care about what his underwear looked like. They say it works for kids and I'm sure a lot of kids like the idea of picking out cool underwear lol but Ryan just didn't really care. I tried to make a big deal out of it but he couldn't care less who is on his undies. lol. But I read the 3 day potty training method and followed it pretty closely and it worked great for us and fast
