Who watched your other kid(s)

While you were in labor and the hospital?
DH gets off the first 24 hours, boss says that's it, plus my two friends and SIL will help when they can but I'm afraid that everyone's work schedule might conflict at some point then my two year old will have to go to my moms and she does everything against my wishes, is not very watchful, and has a pool and the door to it does not lock (not that shed lock it anyways) and my son is always getting into trouble so that's a drowning hazard and how can I relax with the baby if I'm worried sick?!

My husband, me, and our doula helped. She was there for labor and delivery. Luckily my FIL flew out and then took her home for the night we were in the hospital.

I'm pretty sure there is a law about fathers getting time off for their new baby....My husband had 2 weeks by law.

My husband stayed In the hospital wih me for the two nights and our older child, 4 at the time, stayed with my mom one night and dh's parents the next.

My MIL came out when I was medically induced early. My mom planned to come out the week before through the week after my due date to stay with my oldest. while I was in the hospital so my husband could stay the whole time.

BD kept DS#1 while I was in labor, came after DS#2 was born and then DS#1 stayed in the hospital with us.

We don't have any family here so it was friends.....very good friends

My husband, but my son was in the hospital most of the time with my husband. My friend took him into the hall while I was pushing, and came right back in as soon as I popped the baby out. Friends are great when you don't have family near you.

It might be differnet in each area. I know where I am in Canada, this is not the case.

No, but our's can legally take off parental leave if they wanted.

But we do get a mandatory 48 hours by federal law for paternity leave

Yes that is true   I was just pointing out that it is not a manditory thing.

I think thats just in CA. The only federal law is FMLA leave.
