Quoting Bree-L:" I'm pretty sure there is a law about fathers getting time off for their new baby....My husband had 2 weeks by law."

Company policy or state law but not federal law.
If he is eligible for FMLA, they have to give him up to 12 weeks, but it's only paid if he has the sick/vacation time.

That's true but they don't have to be nice or view you well after that. He has to suck up because he wants to become a manager and stick with the company :/

My son was born an hour after my first contraction, so we had no time to find someone to watch dd. She witnessed the whole thing and told all of her preschool friends that "mommy screamed and peed out a baby".. the story also varied to "mommy screamed and pooped out a baby".

Lol

It will all work it self out. And probably not how you plan it to either.

I have been blessed enough to find a mommy from my local mommy play group that is willing to schlep her one year old over to my house at any time to watch my son. If it weren't for her, I would have to pack DS in my suitcase and bring him with me

Quoting Mandy Schlatterer:" While you were in labor and the hospital? DH gets off the first 24 hours, boss says that's it, plus my ... [snip!] ... son is always getting into trouble so that's a drowning hazard and how can I relax with the baby if I'm worried sick?! Ughh"

if he's been there a year... and they have enough employees he gets FMLA,, time off is protected by law.

my in-laws watched my kids while I had my c-sections and he had them after. I didn't have him stay at the hospital.. no reason for it

We took DD to the hospital with us but we had a friend come too just incase something went wrong. She was in the room with me until it was time to push. I only had her leave because I didn't want her getting in the way
