re: Do kids running around at mcdonalds bother you?

Me either, I don't care where it is. If we are eating a chucky cheese and I tell you to finish your pizza first I expect you to listen. And they do because I have never once tolerated anything less. They might fuss, pout, kick their feet and take ages but they know the rules because I've enforced them from day one. Keep your tantrum at a low level, don't leave your seat and finish your food. Get mad at me, that's fine but if you make a scene we will leave, no compromises. You behave or we will leave. I will not tolerate any of your crap, keep your cool and we can talk. My 4 year old gets it so it can't be that hard to understand.

No it wouldn't bother me, but I wouldn't let my kids do it... Unless they were in the play area. I've seen a lot of rude posts on FB lately lol no one knows how to mind their own damn business

You pick your battles and this is one of mine, lol. I think though that allowing them to express their anger with me but keeping it within the rules helps a lot. My oldest can get SO upset with me but she will tell me quietly "Mom I'm really mad at you and I don't like you right now.". She does it in a quiet way but still let's me know how she feels, I appreciate that and let her know it. Later on after we have worked it out, lol. Usually we are both pretty mad, older kids just know how to push those buttons, haha

Thats what im working on with my three year old is teaching her to use her words and express her feelings angry/upset/mad instead or throwing a fit. Then we can talk about them.

It's REALLY hard to get there, my oldest is going on 9 and still has her moments. It's worth it thought, no matter how badly you want to rip out your hair, LOL

I didnt expect this thread to get so busy lol. Okay I will explain a couple of the things people asked about (the parts I remember anyway).

-This particular mcdonalds has an open play area. I ll try to explain it best I can. You know how some have a playplace with slides, tubes, ballpits etc? Well this mcdonalds just as freestanding things. Like there is a freestanding touch screen video game area, area with mcdonalds characters etc.

-The person that posted the facebook post is 27 and has no children.

-I assumed running around to not be literal just because its kind of a saying around here. It doesnt mean they are literally running, more so that they are not sitting in their seat. I go to that mcdonalds sometimes and I have never seen it being overrun by children misbehaving or anything.

-I dont get bothered easily at restaurants at all. Kids all over? Homeless people? Seeing eye dogs? Loud conversations? People talking on their cellphones? Doesn't bother me at all.

I get annoyed when kids run around any public place unless it's inside some structure like the play place. Even inside there they need to be careful. They don't need to walk everywhere, but they don't need to act like crazed loons either. Just because it's McDonalds wouldn't excuse my child from using proper manners just as she would need to use at a fancy restaurant. You don't run around indoors. You don't even run around inside a place like Chuckie Cheese's.... someone can get hurt. Kids are kids, but they need to be kids that behave whether indoors, outdoors, in a play area or fancy restaurant.

my son isn't even 2 yet and here kids under 3 aren't allowed in the play area in McDonalds. So yeah with his 5 second attention span he'll hop off his seat and wander around the restaurant, and if he doesn't want to sit down and we try make him he'll completely melt down (melt downs are frequent right now). People will glare at me if he's wandering around, if he's screaming, AND if I try and tell him off. You can't win.

Lol. I agree. If you don't want to eat McD's with kids around around, it's called a drive-thru.
McD's is one of those places we go when we don't want to have to worry so much about our kids sitting still and not being loud like at a regular restaurant. For the ones with the play places, it's basically a playground that serves food. Get over it or get out.

I havnn't really had any problems at Mcdonalds...but at the kids play are in the malls I have been to...which is a couple different ones..., I have a few problems with kids not being watched. I have seen some crazy fights between kids at those places, some involving my kids getting pushed or something of that nature. I have also have had my hands full of stuff and been chasing my toddler and pre-ker around since they didn't want to listen that it was time to leave, and a group of 5 kids that was with the same parent all came running right through me, making me drop stuff. Those 5 kids looked like they were even way older than the age limit of what they were supposed to be for that area too. Then on the way out, there was a mother that was putting her son's shoes back on right in the middle of the narrow walk way to get out....bia move!! No one wants to wait on your ass to put your son's shoes on, especially while he is kicking and screaming fighting you to put them on, in the middle of the walk way! I ALWAYS watch my kids and I teach them manners so they know not to run into grown ups or even other kids for that matter. I also would NEVER put my son's shoes back on (fighting or not) in the middle of the only way out where no one could get out. That is just rude IMO. I don't care if it is a kid's place or not, it doesn't give parents a reason to not watch their children/ Heck children's hangout spots is where pervs hang out anyways! I expect people to respect my children and I just the way we do them!

I HATE when kids that are too old to be in the toddler play areas are in there. You know what I mean... 8 years old, a foot and a half or more over the maximum height, and running around like heathens while there's toddlers trying to play on the equipment. That smurf pisses me the hell off. I've gone off on kids doing that when they almost stomped my then-16 month old's fingers.

In the play area it's fine. But anywhere else? No, control your kids please.
I used to work at McDonald's and it was annoying as smurf trying to clean up the lobby with kids running around and getting in the way. If you let your kid run around and they end up injuring themselves or someone else that is YOUR fault. There were so many times customers would get pissed at us when their kids injured themselves...listen bitch, I'm not your babysitter and I refuse to keep an eye on your kid because you're too lazy to do it yourself.
