If you found out the baby you were carrying had Down Syndrome, would you terminate the pregnancy or continue it?

I'd continue it. But I may try to find an adoptive family. If I couldn't find a good family, I'd raise the baby.

Terminate. My mom's sister died from Down syndrome at 6 months old and I don't think I could deal with that.

Continue. I couldn't see not keeping my child for something like this. Yeah it would be different and possibly difficult and definitely out of my comfort zone, but it would still be my child and I would love them regardless!

Because it can cause heart complications. There's more to it then just being mentally disabled.

One of my best friends has a son with DS and he is such a huge blessing to their family, I couldn't imagine robbing myself of the experiences they get to have just because it's inclusive of other challenges or just simply not my ideal situation.

i'm glad you mentioned finding a GOOD family. there are many families willing to take on SN children, but do it for all the wrong reasons.


i would more than likely terminate, depending how far along i was. i've seen how harsh kids can be to one another.

Depends on how accurate the test was, a lot of the tests for DS have false negatives.


But I'd terminate if it were 100% accurate that my child had it. All the health risks that come a long with downs, it wouldnt be fair to the child or my living children.

I work with Devopmentally disabled adults and children and i have come to realize, they are so appreciative of life with little that they have, and are such characters and full of life. I would def give my down syndrome little one a chance in life and be whatever they wanted to be and do.
