Dd is pretty close. She only eats chicken. The other stuff is 'yucky'. If we have stroganoff or something she will pick around the meat. But she loves fruit and veggies, which is what I craved when I was pregnant with her.

This time around its all meats, chicken, meatloaf, steak lol.

The recipe says 1 1/2 lbs, I'll probably go ahead and do closer to a cup. And I already have Italian bread crumbs in the pantry, so that is more conveinant.

You can use either bread crumbs or crackers.. I just use crackers (Saltines) because we always have them..

The recipe (If I remember correctly) calls for:

2 lbs of ground beef
2 eggs
1/2 cup of milk
and bread crumbs and/or crackers. (I think it calls for 12 crackers)
And of course 1 packet of meatloaf seasoning

I honestly can't remember if it calls for more ingredients than what I listed.. I haven't made it in sooo long.

I just know following that exact recipe the mixture always comes out more runny than anything so I end up using about 2/3 of a pack of crackers. I am not sure if bread crumbs are maybe more absorbent than the crackers so, if you use bread crumbs I honestly am not sure how it will turn out. I can see though that a lot of other mama's on here can definitely guide you with the bread crumbs.

Maybe cut the milk down to a quarter cup. I don't add any milk whatsoever to mine and its tasty and not super thick.

I also add diced onion and Bell pepper.
2 lb ground beef
1 cup Italian bread crumbs
And tomato sauce on top for the last 10 minutes.

Oh, I am not complaining about the flavor.   Mine comes out pretty tasty as well it's just that I learned the measurements the recipe calls for aren't exact.

I have never really been a fan of meatloaf (I'll eat it but, it isn't my most favorite) so I haven't really even attempted to stray away from the recipe to put my own twist on it like I usually do when I get use to a recipe.

I don't even add the basic ketchup or tomato sauce to the top of mine in the last few minutes. Everyone in the family prefers the ketchup not be baked on top of the loaf.

I was just thinking if you cut the milk down you wouldn't have to add more crackers.

Recipes are funny, I gave my mil a recipe for chicken and rice, and I gave her my exact recipe and watched her follow it and mine was juicer than hers. It was all dried out lol.

LOL.. They really are funny like that, aren't they? For the most part I use recipes as a starter and once I have the hang of them, I venture off into my own creation and turn it into something different. In my opinion most recipes are just basic anyways and gives anyone following them the room to improve the meals and what not.

When I have everything I need though.. I do want to attempt to make a beef wellington. I have never had one before but, after seeing them being made on Hell's Kitchen, I have been dying to try it. I have a secret crush on Gordon Ramsey.
