Condoms are your friend. They aren't mine, because I break out in a rash from the spermicide.   Be careful and if it hurts, stop. Don't push the issue, some people aren't ready for sex until months pp.

I had sex with my SO the day before I was 3 weeks pp. BUT I had a c section so I didn't have stitches or anything. I'm perfectly fine I'll be 4 weeks this Thursday.
