Ideas for pita bread

posted 8th Mar
What are some good sandwiches and/or recipes that you like to make with pita bread??? I made a shrimp sandwich a few nights ago...and some pita chips with guacamole last night. What else is good other than the generic turkey/ham sandwich??

Veggie sandwhich with hummus!
PB and J (HAS to be strawberry jelly)
BLT
Basically anything that you would put on regular bread.
Also, I like to use hummus on my deli sandwhiches instead of mayo or mustard

Do you make your own pita chips? I love making them at home..

Hummus is made from chick peas and its super high in protein. Its kind of nutty and garlic-y and delicious. I love it with pita chips and on sanwiches as well as with veggies for dipping. Its better than mayo and veggie dips because its packed with protein. It is sold in the produce section usually with the fancy cheese blocks in a little plastic tub. Sabra is my favorite brand, give it a try!

I will put like chunks of chicken in put some cheese in, cook it in the microwave for like 30 seconds until the cheese melts and add lettuce & whatever else I want in there. I bet tuna would be good in it too with melted cheese on top with tomatoes & onions mmm.

If you can get a hold of some zaatar (thyme and mixed herbs) you can put olive oil on the pita then the zaatar and put it in the oven.

Or making lahmajin. It's just meat/tomato sauce on flat bread baked.

Fattoush, toasted pita cut up and put in a Mediterranean salad.

Or just pocket sandwiches which pretty much anything. I like it with grilled chicken, tahini, lettuce tomato green pepper and onion and feta.

Pizza! Lol. I made pizzas with just the reg pita circle, not the pocket and it came out tasty. I would imagine stuffing it with pizza fixings and baking it would be awesome!

not sure if you got an answer to your earlier question on chicken salad. You take cooked chicken breast, dice it into small chunks, mix with mayo and celery. like tuna salad. If you want to jazz up chicken salad, try adding mayo, cumin ( its a seasoning to taste) diced celery, and some halved grapes and walnuts! yum yum
