Visitation/Custody?
posted 8th Mar
BD filed for visitation/custody. We all go for DNA testing next week. (1- Why do I need to be tested? I birthed him 2- We were at court cos the state is going after him for money)
What is the process like? How long should the whole thing take?

Both parents get tested if the court is ordering the test. It's being fair to both parties.
Good for him for wanting to have scheduled time with his child. Every child deserves 2 parents who love them and want to spend time with them.
As for time, your court is going to be different than every other court system. It depends on how busy they are.

they test you him and the baby they need urs because his DNA has urs and his and to prove its his they have to match the DNA when its together... Its just a swab in the mouth.
I think the dna takes a month to come back and then the process depends on if u can work it out with out going to court because u will have to do mediation first

Both get tested in order to compare DNA. It is a scientific process.

New question.
DS is special needs and has never met BD. Is there a transition we could do if he asks for something instead of just jumping into a day away from his home not even knowing this stranger?

You can ask. But he's not going to learn unless he's over there.
