What's wrong with my child?

posted 8th Mar
Ok, I know nobody can answer that question. But I'm going insane. The past 2 nights my kiddo has been up every 20-30 minutes screaming. He will be 14 months on the 31st. He has never been a good sleeper and I came to terms with that. But this is ridiculous. He wakes up screaming for me and when I try to lay him down he screams even louder. I check his diaper, try to give him a drink, rock him, sway him, bounce him. I even tried CIO for 5-10 minutes but that just pissed him off even more. Every time he would fall asleep in my arms and I would lay him down, instantly the screaming started again. Finally about 3am I took him into my bed. I thought he fell asleep after 10 minutes but he just sat up and started chatting. SO had to get up for work so I took him downstairs. He laid with me for another 10 minutes and then shot up yelling again.

He has been teething, but this never happened before. I know he is working on another molar, but this is so different. I even gave him Tylenol around 4am and that did nothing for him.

He was sick for literally 2 weeks with upper respiratory junk and then a stomach bug immediately after. But he kicked it around Monday.

Right now he is more miserable than cat smurf. He continues to eat and drink normally. But all he does is scream. My gut is telling me an ear infection. I don't know why. He has no fever, his cheeks aren't even red. I don't know if I should even call the doctor for this or not.

Ugh. This is more of a vent than a question I guess. I'm just so tired. Any tips, suggestions? I don't think I can handle a third night in a row of no sleep. I have literally been up since 3am.

Congestion can often lead to ear infections in young kids. Since he was sick recently, that'd be my first guess, too. I'd take him to the doctor.

We just got back from the Dr. Guess what? Ear infection! I'm glad I didn't wait the weekend out. Thank you for the advice, mama.
