She Passed Away Yesterday

I was hoping she would pull through like she's done so many times before, but her body just couldn't keep up with everything happening to it. MIL passed away in her sleep yesterday afternoon, surrounded by her Children.

I feel so horrible, I was on my way to Alabama to see her, so she could see her Grandchildren one last time, just in case. As I took the Atlanta Bypass, I got the call that she had passed. She's only seen her newest Grandbaby 2 times! Why didn't I go yesterday, I knew I should have.


But I know it's so much better for her. She was in so much pain everyday. No matter what they gave her, it wasn't stopping the pain. She was going to have her other leg amputated. She wasn't strong enough to get herself up and around if that happened. I know she did not want to be dependent on others for her everyday care.


I hope you ladies that smoke, seriously think about quitting. That's where this all started. She lost a toe, then a foot, then her leg. Massive infections, her colon died and basically her body just kept shutting down one organ at a time.

I don't even know how to feel right now. She was a great woman. Accepted me with open arms, never said a bad word, has always been there to talk or to have a coffee with. I'm going to miss that feisty Jersey Girl.

I'm sorry for your loss. My grandmother passed away a little over a year ago due kidney issues and she had advanced lung cancer (she was a heavy smoker also).

This scares me, my nanny is a really heavy smoker (along with having diabetes and heart disease) and I tell her all the time to quit or at least slow down. I couldn't cope with losing her, I'm closer to her than my mother.

I stopped smoking for good this last time I seen the second line on the hpt. That was almost 2 years ago and I honestly feel SO much better. I've been nagging SO constantly lately to stop smoking. I don't want to see him waste away too.
