but whatever it is my daughter has is. she has a cough, runny nose, teary eyes and a fever.
he has started coughing and sneezing already.

I definitely would not take my newborn to the ER, let alone for a normal temp. 37.6 is fine. Me and my oldest, our temps always sit at 37.5.

Just try to distance your two bubs, I know its hard work and lots of hand washing between the two. Good luck  

Fevers are good, not bad.
Anything up to 104 is normal.

if this would be my 2 year old only i wouldnt worry about it.
i mean, like i said she only ever got fevers from vaccines before, but id let them run its course and dont medicate until it hits 103 which it did last night so i started some fever reducers.
but in a newborn i was told you cant medicate and all my discharge papers with DD and DS said to seek immediate medical care if baby under 3 months gets a temp above 100.5...i just wasnt sure if ER or regular doctor.
i guess ill try regular doc first should it come to this.

thank you. i am trying. DD seems to think i am punishing her. she always wants to hold and kiss DS but since she is sick i dont let her and explain every time and she gets so so sad it breaks my heart.  
as far as the temp goes...i am supposed to monitor it because he also has an issue with his umbilical cord. its been at 36.2 the whole time until this morning when he woke up coughing and sneezing like his sister and its at 37.6.
i guess i am just overly worried. first time dealing with REALLY sick kid and having a newborn on top of it  

My papers were 100.5 & higher for 1 month & then 101 from 1-3 months....
I'd keep an eye, but not worry. If you are nursing, he is getting lots of antibodies. I have been terribly ill when both my kids were tiny & they never caught it & of course I was hovering RIGHT over them as I had no choice.

I would just keep checking it to make sure it doesn't get too high. If it gets higher you could always make a doctors appointment with his regular doctor to just have him checked out so you know it isn't an infection from his cord or something. Fevers are so tricky and worrisome. They scare me. I just don't like the ER or A&E as they call it here, because there is always much worse things out there.

I'm going through fevers again at the moment too. I get so scared because a while back my son ended up in hospital for 4 nights with high temps and I had a 3 month old. They ended up ceasing all medication and let the fever take over. So now tonight his temp is sitting at 38.5 and Im just watching it. When it gets to 39 I give a fever reducer because otherwise he starts vomiting.

I hope they both feel better soon.

fevers freak me out. i always think of all the movies with the little kids dieing from fever like city of angels etc.
and with DS only being 3 weeks old i know they cant medicate him...unless germany has something i dont know of yet.
i mean, i went to the pharmacy yesterday because i ran out of cough syrup for DD and asked for some vicks for babies. she looked at me like i am crazy insane and told me there is nothing like vicks for kids under 5 because their lungs can collapse...i was like   because in the states i bought a jar of baby vicks and it says for infant 3 months and up...they said there is nothing like that here and gave me herbal drops to put on DDs clothes and told me to keep her away from DS when she is wearing those clothes...

Oh wow, yeah we can get baby vicks here too. That's crazy!

sounds like your daughter might have the flu. I wouldnt take my newborn to the e.r unless his fever got over 101. its very normal for kids to get fevers when there sick. try keeping your daughter from touching or kissing your newborn and make sure you wash their hands constantly
