Punching herself in the face?

posted 7th Mar
My DD has started a new habit throughout the day. She punches herself in the temple/forehead/eye. She leaves red marks sometimes, especially if she turns or opens her hand and uses her nails. Is this normal? It's like she isn't controlling it, her arms both do it, and it's so fast and stiff I don't know what it is. But I'm worried.

How old is she? I would definately call the doctor....may be something neuroligical triggering these episodes. I have known older children (toddlers -preschool age) that will hit theirselves in the head because they think its funny (they understand what they are doing) but not a baby.

My 5 month old daughter hits herself on the cheeks, it's nothing to worry about unless it's excessive. I think Charlie does it because her gums hurt and she is just exploring all the new things she can do.

She's only 6 months so I know she isn't meaning to. I'll give the pedi a call in a little bit and see what they think. thank you.

She's teething as well, has been getting her teeth since 4 months. I just worried because its been less than a week since she started it and its very often during the day and sometimes she'll fuss too

teething shouldnt cause her to excessively hit herself in the head and eye   hope she doesnt really hurt herself ! keep us posted as to what the dr says.
