Unfortunately some mothers do. Babies have died from them being unattended.

I did not state obesity or food allergies but I do believe that giving it to a young baby can cause those things.

That is true, but that could happen when left with a bottle without rice. A baby should never be left alone while eating.

Yeah that is just what I said but she is still going on and on about
"But if the mother tries it and there is no choking issue, then what is the problem? "

Seriously?like you said, That is like saying if the mother dose not use a car seat and the baby is fine then what is the problem? Or If the mother tries smoking in front of the baby and there is no asthma then whats the issue? If the mother shakes the baby and it dose not die then what is the issue?

Who cares what Drs say if your Mom and Grandma did then must be the best

My FIL got us a car seat for a trip to see him. Picked us up at the airport and it was FF. I was like... UM we don't put the seat that way. Then my SO says its just a week, its fine. I was like well it will only take a second to fix it! Then the FIL said well I read the directions and he looks happy so lets go.

Then the next day I told him about ERF and how we want to do it. Then he said I understand when I had my kids my Mom said "we never used those car seats that is just stupid but I used them anyway, so I understand"

Over time we learn better safer things

I can agree with some of what this says. I agree that a baby 4-6 months old should not have rice cereal in any way. I also agree that your child should not be drinking rice in their formula so long that it causes their teeth to rot. I didn't think this was something that needed to be stated in this discussion. I guess I just assume that some things are common sense.

However, I disagree with it saying that it doesn't help them sleep through the night, because as I said. I have three examples that show me that rice cereal allowed my children to sleep without getting hungry every couple of hours. And based on this quote " There was no statistically significant trend or a consistent tendency of one group to have a higher proportion of sleepers than the other." This simply tells me that it may work for some and may not work for others. Not that it isn't safe if it's given at an appropriate age and there is no choking.

It sounds as if this article is speaking to people that put rice cereal in every bottle which may cause the child to fill overly full at all times and not get the nutrition that they need for such a long period of time that their teeth rot. As I said before I think common sense should tell someone that this isn't healthy.

I'm only suggesting 2 tablespoons a day in a single bottle for a short amount of time. Geeze, Next time I guess I'll have to make all these points to begin with, because apparently common sense isn't that common.

Not in your case. Again its not recommended and considered dangerous doctor that is up to date with current research would suggest except in cases of AR so why would you suggest it someone else? As I already said do what you want with your own children but dont suggest something that is generally considered dangerous to others.

Oh and to your it worked with my kids. Thats 3 kids out of millions. Again we can talk when you can find me actual research that supports your claims. The argument of well it didnt hurt my kids so it wont/shouldn't hurt yours is crap.

Who really cares what you can agree with when all the modern Drs don't agree with you?

You should go into pediatrics and give them all some of your common since! Show them Drs a thing or two about children.

People like her are going to do what they want and that is fine but they do not need to be telling people on here. Some Moms who don't know better might listen to them. I don't know that OP would... but other people see this.

I mean it is just stupid to think that just because you did somthing that is statisticly unsafe and got away with it that the stats are wrong.

She points out that the paper saysThere was no statistically significant trend or a consistent tendency of one group to have a higher proportion of sleepers than the other." then she says This simply tells me that it may work for some and may not work for others. But that is the WRONG way to interpret that it actuly means that when given to all babies the ones who have it did not have a higher proportion of sleep... so it dose not work!

I can't deal with it
