Medication and breastfeeding

So I had my WIC for my pregnancy and for my three year old son. The lady told me with my medication I am taking (60mg cymbalta, 200mg trazodone daily) she's certain it would not be safe for me to breastfeed. I wasn't planning on EBF, just for a couple of months then formula. How would you feel if someone told you this? I am taking these meds for a reason and cannot be taken off because of my level of anxiety.

Ask if there's another form you can take that wouldn't be harmful to baby? Or take yourself off while you EBF.

I was on cymbalta too and couldn't BF. It's known to cause problems. There are a lot of other BF safe anti-depressants though if you want to try them. I'm going to get on Zoloft after this baby is born (I don't feel comfortable being on meds while pregnant).

Talk to your doctor, not the WIC lady. They're well known for not actually knowing what they're talking about.

I wouldn't talk to a Dr... they don't always know either. My DR said there was 0 BF safe meds @.@ But that's just me.

Talk to an LC or a LLL leader.
