Putting your baby to sleep in crib

posted 7th Mar
My daughter is 8 months old and still sleeps in a rock n' play sleeper. I'm trying to break her out of it and put her in her crib. My question is how you mommy's put your baby's to sleep in the crib. Do you rock them to sleep first? Just lay them in the crib and leave? Etc... What is your routine? thanks in advance!

DD was in her pack and play untill she was almost 2, its a safe/secure place she knew and was happy to be in, call it selfish, but I wasnt about to disrupt the goodness we had going on, lol.
When we got her a crib, it was a big deal and she was more than ready, so we had no problems.
Good luck!

I would love to keep her in what she sleeps in longer but she's starting to sit up in it and I'm afraid one day she will fall out. But I totally understand where you are coming from. I don't want to do this either lol.

we started at nap time laying DS in his crib at 5 months and after a few days we would put him in his crib at night. I rock my son to sleep so he would either be almost asleep when I lay him down or asleep.

We usually keep to a strict routine (bath, feed, bed) and keep it very mellow in the house. We rock her a little bit, then swaddle her and then lay her down. Making sure that LO is tired will help, less fussing

When we first started putting him in his crib, I would nurse him to sleep and then just lay him in there and he took to it no problem. Now we either rock him or feed him before bed but he needs to be asleep usually before putting him in his crib.

we just made the switch from swing to crib. like... 3 days ago. dd is 7 months so its pretty similar. we started with doing naps, she would fuss and roll around but i just checked on her often to make sure she wasnt tummy down. tonight will be night 4. shes been great, she sleeps from 9pm to 7am with out waking. the only thing is i get WAY less sleep. im terrified shes going to roll on her tummy!! i prolly check on her atleast 10 times where when she was in her swing i wouldnt. i tried rocking, holding... ext...her pedi actually said to let her CIO and that cuddling them to sleep will create a bad sleep pattern and make them dependent on you to fall asleep... i dont let her CIO... fussing yes but full on tears no. but she wouldnt sleep if i was near her or held her... she would just stare at me   its all about what works for you.

Thank you everyone! Hopefully DD will take well to the crib. So far she sleeps in it for naps but only naps like 15-20 were as before her naps weree 2 hrs. How do you guys feed your baby when they wake in the night for a bottle? Take them out of the crib or just feed them while laying in the crib?

Always take your babe out of the crib for a feeding.

When we moved him to his crib we kept his night routine the same. Bath, story, rock, feed and then lay him down. We have to put him down when he's already asleep though because he won't put himself to sleep but he's always been like that. We also put his white noise maker on.

At night, I feed them and lie them down in the crib while calm, tired, but still awake. It teaches them to self-soothe. We also use a sleep sheep for white noise, which I turn on while feeding them in their room so that they know what's coming. I usually get no fuss.

Take them out, but keep the lights turned low and I re-start the sleep sheep.
