Baby led weaning..

What age is the right age to try that? I heard 6 months but my DD will be 6 months in a couple of weeks and she only has one tooth and I don't think she's going to get more teeth for a while so I don't think I can do it til she's older

you don't need teeth to do BLW. Their gums are strong enough..

They need breast milk or formula until after 1. Food before 1 is just for fun.

DD self weaned completely by 11 months. She was mix fed from about 5 months though. Started to gradually nurse less and less.. it went from every other feeding to only at naps and bedtime then only bed time then only once every few nights then once a week then eventually she just stopped all together. Completely on her own. Then I got knocked up on my first real period without her nursing, go figure right lol

Mine is nine months and she's been on table food since 7 ish moths. It became a power struggle for my daughter to eat her baby food and one day she got mad and grabbed my plate and just dumped it on her tray and started eating. That night she slept so good without crying and crying. She only has one tooth.

It's really just about if she is showing interest in food. If she isn't then there is no sense in trying right at 6 months. If she is then just start with simple things like bananas or a soft avocado. It's not like they have a flip that switches at 6 months to say ok I'm ready for food now. Just kind of have to go with the signs

Started my DD at 8 months and she had no teeth at all. Just cut everything up enough.

DD is 11 months (next week) and we started BLW at 6.5 months- she started pureed at 6 months and wouldnt eat them. She still doesn't have teeth. She gets puréed foods here and there but mostly table food.

I wanted to add we tried purees at 6 months, she wouldn't eat them, so we went to BLW but only occasionally, mainly breastmilk. At 8 months is when she was really interested.
