Baby oil

So my son is 3 months old and has always had dry skin and baby acne. We went to my mom's yesterday and she kept complaining about his dry skin and put baby oil on his face. It started getting a little red that night so she washed it off. This morning his cheeks are hard, he has hives all over his face, his face feels callused. He looks awful. It doesn't seem to be bothering him and it's only on his face, so we're just going to watch it. Could it be the baby oil he was allergic too?

Baby oil is not good for their skin. If he's dry use either coconut oil or sunflower oil enriched with vit e.

The only thing we put on his skin is a bedtime lotion to help him sleep and we don't even use that much anymore. I hate using things he doesn't need, you know? I mean if the dry skin isn't that bad and it doesn't bother him, does he really need anything?

I absolutely hate how my mom just ignores my requests of things to do and not to do. She was a good mom to me, but I can't help but feel like I can't trust her with my son. She rolls up his sleeves when his hands are cold, she puts his diapers on really lose and then he gets pee on his clothes, she feeds him when he isn't hungry, and the list goes on.

my baby has bad dry skin also we tried all different kinds of baby lotions they didn't work so his doctor told us to use baby Vaseline so we did and it works great its been 3 months since we started using it and his skin looks so much better..

It's not good to use petroleum based products on your skin anyway. Natural oils are fine cause your body Can absorb it and it doesn't contaminate your blood stream.

The only time I use oil is for a little dryness on his head. Other times I use baby lotion (often) and I bought some baby eczema soap and lotion made by Aveeno. They sell it at Walmart. To add...I bathe him every other day because the every day baths dried his skin out.

Also...I use a cool mist humidifier in the room at night so the air is moist and it doesn't dry his skin out.
