Did you have a gender reveal party?

I think these are awesome and I would like to do it if we have another!
How did you do it, cake? Balloons? Etc.
did you find out with your family and friends or did you know before the party?
Pics?  

We knew before. With my son we baked a blessing cake with white frosting and my dad cut it as dessert in front of the family. For our daughter we did a box gift wrapped with pink balloons inside that said princess and lit up. Then we ordered a cake with her name on it and had it wrapped to announce her name as dessert.

We're doing ours Sunday.   We were going to do a box of balloons but Hubby's cousin stole our idea. So I'm doing a pinata, filling it with pink things.

We knew ahead of time 'cause I have to make the pinata. I'm too cheap to pay for it. Plus I had to pay for my U/S out of pocket to find out the sex so I wanted to know haha... plus I had to set myself up for gender disappointment so I wanted to give myself some time to mourn if I needed too (glad I did, I had to).

My DD wouldn't show us what she was! I'm glad I didn't have a party planned. We paid for another US at 27 weeks.

Piñata is cute!! I'd probably do a cake because my friend is a cake baker and decorator lol. And I'd find out at the party. Won't really be a party just a small gathering of my immediate family and close friends. I don't think anyone else would be as excited as us lol.

Ah I didn't even think if that! My first daughter didn't show us either but we didn't have another u/s so didn't find out until birth.

I didn't plan a cake because my family is long distance and they'd be watching through Web cam... but apparently they don't want to wait and want me to tell them now. I haven't yet. bwhaha.

It's just Hubby's family. Not huge, just his parents/grandparents/aunts/cousins. I just wanted to BBQ with them since they are always inviting us to BBQs, I wanted to do one at our place.

Amy: I love the cake idea! Now if only we could pick out a middle name by Saturday! I'll have to pester Hubby... or just spell out her first name.

We had the ultrasound tech write the gender I. A card and close it so we could drop it off at the bakery. We had her print the potty shot and put it in another envelope ( I always wanted that shot!!!). Our cake was bee themed and it said "he or she, what shall it bee?" we had no idea what the gender was. Dh sister made a board so people could guess. We had a cook out etc it was mothers day and our closed friends and family were there. I was wonderful!!!!!!

Yeah except my mother   Can't wait for my son to see how disappointed his grandma was that he was a boy.

We ended up having a BIG reveal party w/over 50 people. LOL It was seriously just supposed to my parents, siblings, a couple uber close friends...but once the plan got out, EVERYONE wanted to come. [part of it, was that we live 3000 miles away & this was our first trip 'home' in years] But, it was SO much fun. My Brother made the reveal cake & cupcakes, so that made things even more special.


We opted for a purple/green theme instead of pink/blue...

Since DH & I [along w/B-G] knew the sex prior to the party, we revealed her name w/the party favors. Since Chloe means blooming, green shoot we did these mini flower pot kits!
