Constant interaction?

posted 6th Mar
Whenever DD is awake I feel like I should constantly be interacting with her by talking to her or whatever because I feel bad looking at her just sitting there looking around (she's 5 weeks btw) but I don't want her to get over stimulated. Are you supposed to let them just sit there as long as they're not crying obviously, or did you always hold them and talk to them, play with them? I feel like she's bored just sitting there. Usually if I'm not interacting, I put her in her swing with the lights she likes to look at or her bouncer that plays music and lights up.

And another thing, her bouncer vibrates and I think she likes it, is it bad if its on vibrate all night? since she's been sleeping in it at night bc of her cold I want her upright. I get scared the vibrations will harm her somehow.

I hold or wear my newbs 24/7. Keep doing what you're doing. Constantly holding her and talking to her is the absolute best thing you can do to encourage brain development.

DD spent a lot of nights/mornings in her carseat and bouncer. it was the only way she'd get any sleep. so she should be fine on that. not sure if you can overstimulate a baby that little. i know around 4-6 months DD started getting more and more to where she wanted to be left alone (mostly to get into stuff. lol). when she was little bitty though, if i wasn't holding her, she was in her swing or bouncer. she'd have fun in them.

Ok that's what I thought, did you read to your newborn? I try reading a book to her as well.

Thank you! Yeah she usually makes it halfway through the book before she wants to eat or doesn't pay attention lol, but she does look at the pages it's so cute!

Honestly, I would take advantage of this stage while it lasts. Obviously you want to hold and talk to your baby throughout the day, but even the simplist things stimulate her at this stage so enjoy a little free time if she is happy to watch the lights, listen to music, etc. If she were bored or unhappy, she would fuss and cry. It's nice for her to learn a little independence and for you to get to do a few things done!
As for the vibration, all of our seats stopped after a certain amount of time passed. I don't know of anything harmful from it, but I just personally wouldn't want them always being vibrated (I don't have any logic to it but I would worry about sensory development).

Yeah if I have to do something and she is content in her bouncer or swing ill let her be, and her bouncer stays on vibrate until I shut it off but one night I fell asleep and forgot so I was worried
