I wouldn't be mad. I'd just ignore it, and plan the party the way that I wanted to. It's my daughter, I'll do what I want.

eh i see where your both coming from honestly. in your defense, i was the same way. said the same things. all birthdays are special. in her defense, your LO will not remember. i just know that after having 3 kids, it hurts when you go all out and your LO is more interested in the box of the gift, or would rather nap or is in a bad mood. i think your thoughts will change once you have another baby or you start adding up all the money in toys collecting dust around the house.

I hear that kinda stuff all the time -- about birthdays, Christmas, etc. I just ignore it.

As I told my Fiance. They are important to me. I never got huge birthdays and I want my son to have the best birthdays in the world.

I spent 500 on b-day gifts and christmas gifts every year for my son while he was an only child that kid has more toys then he could ever play with this is the first year he has a sibling so I will not be spending that much for christmas for I will have two and people always give me crap and say my kid is spoiled I just say to each thier own it hasn't hurt him in the least and he is fine he does not act spoiled and never has so have fun and go crazy while they enjoy it for when they are older they will be happy with presents but more likely just want money.

We were raised very poor, my mom was single most the time with two kids always working two jobs barely getting by. Our birthdays consisted of a meal of our choice she would make and if we were lucky, a cake.

ANY TIME I have done a birthday for my daughter she goes on and on about how it's ridiculous and I'm spending too much & going overboard. Well YEH anything more than food and a cake is a lot to you! lol I just ignore her.

My mom had four of us. We had great birthdays until our dad just left (haven't heard from him since). After that We didn't expect much. I know it was tough for her so I don't hold it against her. I just make sure my son won't ever have anything like that happen.

See the weird thing is she always went way overboard with me. And she had the nerve to say "That's why you're the way you are."

And I just sat there wondering wtf she was meaning by that, because I literally buy nothing for myself, EVER. When I have money I spend it on DD.

And I'm not even getting her much. Just stuff I couldn't get her for Christmas. A kitchen, playhouse, swing, and some dolls.
