Interested in BLW

posted 6th Mar
I've been reading up on it alot and currently reading about it on wholesomebabyfoods.com. Asher will be 6 months (Time flies!) on the 30th, seems very interested in what we eat, but I'm not wanting to give him any till then. He's EBF right now and nurses every 3-4 hours.

Addison was FF and we never did any research on not starting solids till 6 months and ended up starting her on cereal at like 4 months :/ But she's 4 1/2 now and isn't allergic to anything so we got lucky there

Anyway, how did you all start with the BLW? It just makes us nervous because of how big of pieces of food I've been reading to give. Am also considering making his baby food myself.

Any opinions will be appreciated!

ETA: He has on tooth broken through on the bottom, and the other should come through anyday now.

I didn't start giving LO solid pieces of food that she fed herself until 8-10 months. Soft things like banana's cut into cheerio sized pieces, etc, work well. So I never really did purees... my mom did when she babysat, but LO hated 'em. So, banana's, used a mesh feeder at times, peeled and quartered grapes, peeled and halved blueberries, steamed veggies I think, and eventually (towards 1 yr) things like noodles (i'm thinking I have the time line right, but it's been a while!). You can also freeze breastmilk in ice cube trays and let them try to feed themselves that - may be good for the summer heat!

IMO, babies are just interested in stuff. I mean, you eat around them ALL the time, so they're interested. I don't think it necessarily means they're ready to eat or even try things, just that they are curious little beings.

That's true. He really gets excited though when we eat, moves his mouth up and down while we eat.

I do have a new mesh feeder I've forgotten about.

Thanks for all the info!
