Gum abscess/infection...

If you have had an abscess or infection in your gum did it constantly hurt or did it only hurt when you chewed where the infection/abscess was?

Dh didn't have an abscess, he had an infected tooth and it hurt constantly. They gave him amoxicillin to clear the infection up.

His mom has an abscess and she says the same that it hurts constantly.

I did when I was pregnant with my daughter. It hurt constantly. They had to put me on antibiotics and percocets for 2 weeks before they could work on my mouth.

Mine hurts sometimes. This is going to be gross, lol. Okay?

Mine was bad enough that the infection burrowed through the gums so I had like a pimple on the outside of the gum. If that was drained it didn't hurt that much because the pressure was relieved. When the infection was bad (since it was never really gone even when it didn't hurt) it really hurt. When my body fought it down, it didn't hurt much.

Ouch that sounds painful.

Idk but I have a molar in the back that needs a new filling because it cracked & right now I have no money to get it filled & lately when I chew it hurts like between my tooth & I floss between it so I know nothing is lodged between it, idk what is going on tbh.

Infections are nothign to fool around with. They can enter the blood stream and kill you. Do you have health insurance? If so you can get antibiotics from your Dr if that's what it is. They can't fix the tooth but they can fix the infection. It's a short term solution, but it's better then ignoring the infection.

I totally understand though. Friday I'm having 5 teeth extracted to start work on all the tooth problems, including the one where that abscess is that I mentioned.

No problem! That's actually what I did. I went to my Dr first and got antibiotics and pain pills then set up an appointment with the dentist. Good luck! I hope you're out of pain soon, I know, it sucks.

Thanks   It does suck! It doesn't hurt too much luckily not yet anyways haha. I have enough pain going on as it is, I don't need to add to it lol.
