IUD, implant, or tubal?

posted 6th Mar
i am so torn on whether to get my tubes cut/tied/clamped whatever or get the IUD or implant. i need advice. i really do NOT want to get the tubal but my mom is very adamant on it because I am living with her. I have NEVER had an IUD or implant and I am scared after reading so many horror stories. i need some advice or at least some good stories or even some bad ones to help me figure out what to do. I want to decide before my daughter is born.

Well, do you want anymore kids?

One is permanent(most of the time), while the others are not.

i honestly want the option. I am 24 and i feel like that if i ever do marry and want another kid i would love to have the option. but that is the far future im sure (at least 5+ years)

If you want the option of having more kids then I'd go with the IUD and possibly another form of BC as well. I don't think your mom has a choice in what you do but as long as your living with her you should do everything in your power to not get pregnant again out of respect for her house and feelings. Just make sure what ever you decide that it's truly what you want to do, or else you will end up resenting yourself and the other person. Good Luck

i know that is how im feeling but told me when i found out i was pregnant this time "i will let you stay here and i will help you out with everything you need but you have to do something afterward to prevent another pregnancy" I have issues with the pill, the shot, the nuvaring and the patch. i have gotten pregnant on the shot twice adn the patch once and the nuvaring caused serious swelling issues while i used it and i dont trust condoms at all! but i really do believe i will regret the tubal if i get it done.

I've had the paragard IUD for 2 years and I have had no problems with it. I would suggest it over a tubal since you may decide to have more kids one day.

Yep, it's totally safe. It has no hormones.

okay great because i dont want to dry up while trying to bf because of it. was the insertion of it painful? when do they typically do it after birth? (or did you get urs later on?) i have not heard too many bad things about paragard which is why im possibly okay with (i have only heard terrible stuffa bout mirena)

I have had the mirena since october and love it, many sister, SIL and my ex SIL all have it or have had it and have never had an issue with it. You should do what you feel is best it's your body, not your mom's.

The insertion wasn't painful, just a little pinch and a few mild cramps here and there for the rest of the day and I got mine inserted at my 6 week PP check up. I've heard a lot of bad things about Mirena too. I was actually thinking about getting it after I had DD, then I did a little research and asked around to people I knew personally that had it, and it just wasn't something I would want to deal with.

It depends. You have (almost) five children, which to most people, is more than enough and you've tried birth control before that failed.

I would consider the implant first and see how it goes. I do think that at 24, you still have many years left to change your mind, so you may want to keep your options open.
