keeping cat off of table

posted 6th Mar
How do you keep your cat off of your kitchen table while you are gone? We eat on that table, and I really don't want her laying on it while we are gone. She also plays with anything and everything in the house, and moves everything around while i'm gone. I realize she's a kitten, but is there any way to keep her off of the table?

We'd spank them when we caught them on the table and tell them no.

you can get a mat called sofa scram, it's a battery powered mat then when it feels weight it's let out a ultrasonic beep to scare away the animal

If my cat did it now I would just lock her away from the kitchen but she's old. If it's not all old and dying I would do the same thing I do when any other animal is where it shouldn't be. Bust out the BB gun.... There is a spray that keeps cats away form whatever area called Keep Off, it's less traumatic than being shot at and worked for a friend that just sprayed the floors under the tables.

Water bottles work wonders. Miley used to scratch anything that had leather on it, she ruined 3 of my expensive purses.. Or, you could cover the table up with a sheet or something.

Foil does not work on all cats and same as the water bottles squirting them not all cats hate water etc....

But IDK both cats are always on th etable and we dont care. So we dont take them down. lol

Ugh cats are disgusting. They walk in their litter box, then get up on the table where you eat! Gag. My mother in law has 13 cats and lets them on her table, counters, everything! She'll leave butter out on the counter to serve with dinner and the cats will just lick all in it and she doesn't even care! I always clean the table with bleach before we eat there and I rarely eat there anyway.
Anyway I second the sheet on the table idea or maybe a plastic table cloth or something?

Can I shoot you with a bb gun when I feel you misbehave? I mean it's one thing to discipline an animal, but to shoot it for jumping on a table? That's drastic.

Come on one pump on a BB gun is not any more painful than flicking them. I know this because I have a big brother that DID shoot me with a BB gun when I touched his smurf and I learned pretty quick not to touch what wasn't mine, the only difference is I only pump it once for a cat. Guess how many times I had to tell my cat not to get on counters or scratch my furniture in the 14 years I've had her. I've used less BBs than you have fingers on one hand.
