Bloody bowel movement. Possibility of Crohns disease

posted 6th Mar
I have been having bloody BMs over the last six months off and on. I saw my doctor and she ruled out Hemorrhoids, Fissure, or a tear. So now I am being referred to a specialist, so that I can have a colonoscopy done. My doctor is not too sure what to expect though, as my symptoms are spread all over the place.

She things it may be something along the lines of Crohns but said that some of my symptoms are inconsistent with that idea.

The symptoms that I do have are:
- Bloody stool
- Extremely tired
- Random cramps, but no pain while making a BM
- Puffy, goopy eyes in the morning
- Headaches
- Random onset of acne on my back (not even sure if this is relevant)

* I do not have diarrhea, nor am I constipated.

I guess what I am wondering is if anyone else has ever gone through anything like this and what it ended up being? Or if you have Crohns what your symptoms where like etc..

I know that nobody can diagnose me online, I am just looking for a little piece of mind..

TIA!!

ETA: sometimes it's only a bit of blood, and other times it has been enough to make me think that I got my period.

The only thing I can think of is IBS or Crohn's...

Good luck! Hope you figure out what is going on!

You probably don't have chrons. And you probably don't have Ulcerative Colitis either

I'm gonna put good money on a deep internal hemerhoid or fissure.

I don't know why the doc brought up chrons for just bloody stool.

Puffy goopy eyes don't mean anything. Back acne doesn't mean anything.

I think you're seeing zebras instead of horses

well my doctors said that puffy eyes is actually a common, overlooked symptom of Crohns, and that a random onset of acne can be the body's way of creating an alert or something like that. I am just saying what she told me. She treated me for hemorrhoids in case that was the case, but I am still having problems.

When you say that I am seeing Zebras instead of horses I'm not sure what to make of that. I am only writing what my doctor told me. Naturally, I am worried that there is blood in my stool.

she also said if it was a fissure that I would be in a lot of pain, which I am not.

Usually with Chron's you have pretty severe episodes of diarrhea and constipation every couple weeks/months, especially if you are not taking anything for it or treating it yet. Everyone I know with Chron's has episodes of those on a consistent basis where they feel so awful they are just out for days. Chron's usually causes severe weight loss as well because of nutrient malabsorption.

They need to check you for colon cancer. I have IBS & I have episodes of HORRIBLE stomach cramps accompanied by a lot of diarrhea...then I go through times where I am super constipated. It sucks...I was pretty sure people with Crohns had like IBS symptoms but multiplied by a lot like to the point they can't even hold their diarrhea in at all & sometimes go on themselves.

Doesn't sound like Chron's. I would say deep hemorrhoid as well, or just not enough fiber in the diet. The other symptoms do not mean anything as far as the GI tract goes

Well this is exactly what I thought, I thought you had issues going or had issues going too much kinda thing... which I don't at all. My BMs are like clockwork (sorry for tmi) I go to the bathroom every morning when I wake up. I don't have any pain when I do go to the bathroom, and I don't have super intense stomach/abdominal pain on a regular basis. The whole situation is just annoying. Like, I almost didn't go and get it checked because I am not caused any pain or anything.. but wanted to be on the safe side so I did.

Chrons is a painful, debilitating disease.

I have Chrons and IBS

It's days of being on the toilet, diahrea 10 -15 times a day or more. Bleeding. Cramps so bad I cannot move

You said that you don't have pain, constipation, or diahrea. That is why I'm saying it probably isn't chrons.

I's still put my money on a deep roid or fissure.

If it were chrons, you'd be in so much pain and have massive trots

I have been treated for internal hemorrhoids though, and I definitely get enough fibre.. these are all things she already went over and ruled out.

If I was a deep hemorrhoid is it possible that the treatment wouldn't work?

Well have you had a colonoscopy done to see if its internal hemorrhoids? Also that would be good to rule out colon cancer too

Well, that's what I thought. I have known people who have Crohns, and they are usually much sicker than I have been. She said that a fissure is extremely painful, so that's not it. And I used internal hemorrhoid treatment for a month.. and it still happens. I wonder if it's possible that the treatment just didn't work if that's what I do have

No, I am waiting to hear from a specialist. She stuck her finger in my bum... and said that she couldn't feel anything abnormal.. lol sorry tmi.. but then still treated for internal hemorrhoids just to be safe.
