Orange...

Ok, been a long time since I have had a baby around, is giving them too much orange food (sweet potato, carrots, peaches) bad for them? Can it tint their skin? Dumb, but I vaguely remember my DD loving carrots and her nose turned a bit orangy...maybe i was seeing things? lol

I know my stepdad's nephew used to eat a lot of carrots and he did turn orange lol. I dunno if that's the case for all orange foods or just carrots, but yes it does happen with carrots..

Well yes and no. If you eat significant amounts of carrots, you skin can turn a slight orange color, something resembling jaundice. Carrots contain carotene which does not break down in water and is stored in the bodys fat cells. It's called Carotenosis and is extremely rare and can be fatal. So if your kid really does have a orange discoloration of skin, she needs to be checked out.
