"the baby will come flying out"

My midwife told me that this morning at my 36 week checkup! lol She checked me for dilation and said that my cervix is very soft and thin so when I go into labor, the baby will come out very fast. Well "flying out" were her exact words.   Which I guess is a good thing but I was planning on waiting until the last possible moment to go to the hospital because I was in labor for 12 hours with my son.

Has anyone been "very soft" at 36 weeks and did your baby come flying out? lol

Your cervix definitely does not predict how your labour will be. Why were you having a cervical exam at 36 weeks anyway?

My dr started them at 35 weeks?

Lol my youngest did!! I was in labor for 6 hrs, 10cm and pushing, my water still hadnt broken. It literally burst, and 2 pushes later Rhys came flying out the nurse caught him. Lol. My labor went very quick. They just got me on iv bag and I weny from 6cm to 10 cm in 15 mins.

Oh my gosh, that's crazy! I hope mine goes that fast too! I remember 6-10 taking forever for me the first time.

lol well good luck. Both of mine were super quick. My 1st one was only 4 hours and my 2nd was 6 hours, although my 1st was induced and my 2nd I went into labor on my own.

I was in labor for 32 hours with my first and 16 minutes with my second. Got checked into the birthing room literally 4 minutes before I had to push - it was bad.

Yeah, that's a little TOO fast. I'm a little freaked out now because I remember my mom saying she barely made it to the hospital with her second before she gave birth.

Well, I was in preterm labor for 4.5 weeks before delivering. They stopped it with shots and IVs, then they quit trying to stop it once I hit 36 weeks and I delivered 2 days later. I'm not sure if that made a difference or not, but I'm assuming that's why it was so quick once my water broke.
