re: How should I decline this job offer?

Sounds like the same laws for NY. I receive NY unemployment.

I don't receive FL unemployment.

Unemployment will still pay you the difference. And keep in mind that at anytime, legislation can be passed that will stop your unemployment. That happened to me. I make less than I made on unemployment, but it's better than being on unemployment for several different reasons. You should be able to get susidized day car of some sort if you just look into it. For example, you can't get food stamps if you're on unemployment, but you can if you are earning regualr wages. I wouldn't turn down a job.

It's a little different in NY. Read through my responses, I explained a little more. I'm exhausted and can't type it all again lol.

Ha ha. Ok I read it all. Well it's great they are going to pay you more. When I went to interviews, I just told the the least I was willing to take. They wouldn't pay me, I didn't get the job offer, so too bad so sad. I get where you are coming from. The biggest reason I took my current job was because, given the economic crisis, I really don't forsee unemployment lasting much longer. You've already been on it for a while right? Do you know how much longer you have left? Thats really what it comes down to.

I will have 2 years this June but I have another 6-7 months left of it.

And yeah, that is why I kept going to the interviews and stuff. I wanted anything really... unemployment pay rate just went 10.7% down so I wanted to find something before I got to that point next month. Things seem to be going well with this job. I work Mon-Thu and then Fri-Sun I can do as many hours as I can from home. I feel feel very blessed to have found this and I really hope it works out.

That's great! Keep in mind, I took a job that pays the same as I would have made on unemployment, maybe even a little less. However, that means there are new opportunities. I am waiting to hear about a GREAT promotion I most likely got. Then I'll be on my way. Plus, people are dumb and don't want to hire someone who has been out of work. So that alone will help you.

I know, I'm still applying for other jobs so we'll see how it goes. Good luck in your promotion!!

I would tell them I had another offer with better hours.

You can decline any job that pays less than the last dollar amount you made at your last job.
