i just dont know what to do anymore

posted 6th Mar
my 6 month old wont sleep at all. He wakes up every half hour to hour at night and wont go to sleep unless he has a bottle and than hes awake at 7am. During the day he maybe takes 3 half hour naps but thats it. I am so exhausted and just dont know what to do to get him to sleep. He has been doing this since he was 4 months old. I took him to the doctor a little over a month ago and he ended up having an ear infection so i thought that was the problem but it wasnt. I need help i dont know how much longer i can go without any sleep. He goes to the doctors on the 15th so of course ill bring it up to his pedi and see if she can help me.

could he be teething?
some nights my son would be screaming for hours and when id think ooh his gums! i'd put something on them and he'd go straight off to sleep.
or some calpol?
or some nights he just wants to sleep in my bed lol

Do you have a solid bedtime routine where he knows what to expect, and that it ends in bedtime?

My son was like this until 7 months. We coslept and it wasnt working for either of us. We moved him to his crib. It was a rough transition, but he's now a great sleeper. Good luck.

Thats probably what it is. I don't know how you feel about giving your 6 month old anything but when my kids couldn't sleep due to teething I would give them infant tylenol and they would sonk out.

I dont think we have tylenol in the uk but he has calpol and ibuprofen which I give him. the ibuprofen will knock him out so as a last resort if he's screaming and I can't work out whats up then i'll use that.
do you have ambasol? (cant spell it lol but thats how its pronounced) its a little glass jar with goldish liquid. just a tiny bit on your finger and rub it on their gums and it soaks in instantly. he loves it.

Sounds like he is hungry if wanting a bottle during the night time... is he eating solids yet? Have you tried upping it a bit during the day and increasing his liquids too? Maybe a bigger bottle just before bed?

yea hes on regular food now and he has 3 meals a day plus he eats about 8 ounces right before bed so i dont think hes hungry. He has always had to have a bottle to fall asleep. I really dont think hes hungry but he just needs it to fall asleep he goes through 5 4 ounce bottles a night

Hmmm... I don't have much advice then! My babies will not eat if they are not hungry... I have a harder time getting them to eat at all! Sorry
