Registering a Dog!

I need someone who can point me in the right direction.

We bought an Australian Shepherd from a local breeder when we got here in September. The father of the litter was registered and had papers but the mother did not. I have no idea who the father was registered with and I've lost contact with the breeder when we moved into our home :/ I have tried looking online but nothing has come up yet (I do remember where the breeder lives though, but that might be stalkerish to just pop up out of no where...)

Anyways I really want to look into getting her registered if I can. I know I can't with AKC, and I have heard CKC (continental not Canadian) isn't a registry you want to go with. Any one know how I can go about doing this?

To register the only way I know is when the breeder gives you papers and you send them in. Ckc will end up being the only way you can go and pretty much pointless just about anything can be ckc :/

With ckc you still may need pictures of the parents not sure but they have a application online.

CKC just needs 2 witnesses and photos of the dog but since so many people think it's a crap registry I really don't know if I want to waste the money.

Just a question. What is the point of registering a dog with the AKC or CKC?

Nothing really unless you want a show dog or plan on breeding. Dogs with parents with papers cost more.

Also if you plan on doing any AKC competitions like obedience trials and such.

I've never had a dog so I have no clue what registering is all about

I have thought about showing her and breeding her. She has some very beautiful qualities and she has wonderful behavior (other than the crazy hyperness but she's still a pup) I wouldn't be breeding her for a while though (2.5 is when I would want to)
