Your opinion on the best type of paci to use when you nurse?

I use my boobs

But when DS was born, we tried some and the only ones he would take were MAM ones. He didn't like those much either though, he just preferred them over any others

I tried to just make sure he nursed or used me as a pacifier, but he would get upset each time he got milk. We found that MAMs were the only ones he'd take.

none, breast fed babies don't need pacis. If they want to suck, they should be sucking on you. There is always a good reason a breastfed baby whats to suck, a mother should let him/her

I do let him but when my boob is in his mouth and he's still crying that kinda tells me its not what he wanted? I'd rather have a paci and rarely use it than not have one and need it. Plus I miss buying cute pacis.

And to the other posters, awesome. MAM is my favorite cause I think they make the cutest ones, lol.

I have to agree and disagree with this... My son would absolutely refuse to nurse at times. As soon as I introduced the pacifier to him, he was perfectly content. And he went on to nurse until he was 13 months.

What kind of pacifier did he take?

DS used soothies for the first 2 months. I threw them away because we went through 6 weeks of bad thrush & boiling them did nothing. He gets upset sometimes when nursing like he wants a paci but its just him being tired/wanting to play instead. I find them unnecessary if you don't start off with them.

niether of my kids ever had a paci and di that too - it's a phases, commonly referred to as a nursing strike. they can be short -like one feeding or days to months. My oldest got booby juice until 13 months and my youngest was 2.5 when she stopped for good. I would rather not ever introduce something that will need to be taken away at some point.

Agreed. I was lucky to get the paci out of the picture quick. I was a 1st time mom in the hospital with a baby that had tons of gas. I let a paci soothe him because I panicked & didn't want him to hate me

Sorry but that is the biggest load of crap I have ever heard. DD is EBF never had a drop of formula in 7 months. She uses a pacifier because she thinks she needs to suck on something 24/7 sorry but I have things to do and can't have a baby on my tit all day and night. OP DD will only take Soothie and gumdrop pacis they are shaped like the nipple too so it avoids nipple confusion. We tried other pacifiers she refuses them. Also those are the ones that hospitals give out and they're all 1 piece so they're easy to clean.

Yeah. I had PPD bad and with a kid that NEVER slept, he got a pacifier. I wasn't going to deal with him screaming bloody murder for hours on end.
