CAR SEAT NAZI MOMS?

posted 5th Mar
I pre apologize for any typos. I'm on my phone.
Question..
I ordered DD a carseat which I could have sworn was both forward facing and rear facing. It's a Graco Convertible 3-in-1.
Got it today & its not.
Says that baby has to be at least 20 lbs and 27" I believe which she will be soon & says she needs to be at least one year to ride forward facing.
My question is, if your baby meets the physical requirements can they forward face?
DD is 7 mo.
Im stupid because I got it and she's still 17lbs and 27" and therefore, can't use this car seat at all.
SOOOO. I ordered another one that IS forward & rear facing that goes 5-65 lbs.
Question is did I do the right thing by ordering another one that is rear and forward facing?
I hope my question makes sense.
and just out of curiosity, if your baby meets the physical requirements but the car seat manufacturer recommends the baby being at least one year, and your baby isn't, what do you do?

Don't quote.

You should keep your child RFing as long as she will fit in the RF position, according to the instructions.

The law is 1 AND 20lbs not one or the other. However the recommendation is at least 2. Rear facing is much safer than forward facing and they should stay rear facing for as long as their seat will allow. Mine is 57 inches and 45lbs.

It's not or, it's AND. So no, she can not forward face until at least a year old. Even longer is better.

I'm pretty sure that state law says you have to rear face until a year, regardless of size.

The Nautilus can NOT RF and you can NOT FF your 7 month old. It is completely unsafe, not to mention illegal.
So, yes, you did the right thing.
Keep your child RF as long as possible, til they outgrow the limits.

And car seat nazi is a terrible ugly term. Nazi's killed innocent people and were filled with hatred. Which is the exact opposite of people who are car seat knowledgable.

I think you made a good call by getting a different seat that would continue to RF. It is best to let them RF as long as possible. It is safer for them if they are RF when in a wreck.

I'm not offended, it's just a really ugly term to use.
