It's a little early to diagnose PPD. Your hormones are just going crazy right now. It sounds like you're overwhelmed, and that's understandable. Is there anyone at all that can help with the kids?

Not really, Im on my own for the next 8 day. My SIL can come take my daughter occasionally but is a full time student and can only offer so much.

You're welcome! Hang in there, it'll get better. Those first few months are no joke, I couldn't imagine doing it alone. (:

Even if she can just come hang out with you, that'd be better than nothing.

Have you made an appt. with a lactation nurse about the breastfeeding?

this sounds so much like me....
first of all - stop breastfeeding!!!!! you will have much better mental health and that is ultimately better for your baby. all you haters can hate - i'm not anti-breastfeeding and did it with my second but with my first it hurt so bad and i cried every feeding and wanted to throw her. that isn't healthy for either party. i switched to a bottle (pumped milk til i dried up) when she was one week old and my only regret is that i didnt do it sooner. i bonded so much better with her after and felt better myself.
secondly - if its not ppd yet, it will be with the level of stress and lack of support you are experiencing. your husband has to come home. you guys are more important then anything and you are going to end up resenting him for abandoning you all when you needed him most.

I'm sorry, but to just stop breastfeeding without exploring why it's hurting isn't good advice. Breastfeeding shouldn't be painful, and many times it's a simple fix to relieve it.

Aww momma, I can relate... I just had my little girl Thursday and the first couple days I cried so much for no reason, mostly cause I didn't like being away from my baby while she was in the nursery I felt exteremly sad cause she wasn't in my belly with me all the time. I couldn't imagine the stress of taking care of both children while your husband is away, I know I'd be very overwhelmed and sad as well. The lack of sleep has really been getting to me but I am trying my best to sleep when she does during the day.

I can't sleep at night cause I am constently checking on her and worried, every little noise she makes I am wide awake! I have anxiety when she's away from me. I've actually be sleeping on the couch sitting up with it reclined and I'll hold her in the boppy pillow on my lap. For now it's the only way I can relax.

As for nursing, I have been having a hard time as well... It's painful my nipples are dry, cracked and bleeding... I rented a nice pump from the hospital and I've been pumping 4-5oz within 15 mins and just storing it in the fridge and bottle feeding her. I bought a nipple shield today, which works wonders!!! It's a Medela shield... I would highly suggest you try one, I can nurse her with it on my dry cracked nipple without even feeling it. I hope once my nipples heal I can toss the shield and get her to latch better... Good luck!

Congrats on your baby girl by the way! =D
I actually got a madela breast shield at the hospital but he didnt like it but I tried it again today and its really made a huge difference...its made nursing at least tolerable. However I'm worried it will make getting him to latch on correctly very difficult once my nipples heal up and he wont want to nurse without one. =( I don't want to give up on nursing, its so important to me. I also know what you mean about having anxiety. I'm waking up at night way more than he is. He wakes up on his own once, maybe twice a night on his own but I'm awake much more. I also sleep next to him on the couch so I can get to him quicker.

Im not willing to give up on breast feeding and will be calling the LC tomorrow to see if they can squeeze us in so we can work on his latch. The biggest issue for me is he puffs air into his cheeks while nursing which makes him lose suction constantly so he keep clicking his tongue on my nipple. Its hurts so bad.
