infected piercing during pregnancy

hey,
so I just found out that I am pregnant with #2 and I have an infection in my beautiful new cartilage piercing. . . My doctor prescribed me some antibiotics, the only thing is that I don't want to take out my piercing!! Has anybody else gone through this? Do the antibiotics work even if I do not remove the jewelry. . .

My septum piercing got infected after 7 months of having it...and I found out I was pregnant a few days later.
I had to take it out.

You shouldn't take out a piercing when it's infected anyway because there'll be no where for the puss to go if it closes (that's what I always hear). You shouldn't even need antibiotics but since you're pregnant I'm sure your doc is playing it safe. Just keep cleaning it really well and keep it clean and DON'T TOUCH it with your fingers!

Use witches hazel! That is what made my industrial finally heal.

I've always been told by both doctors and peircers that your not supposed to take out an infected piercing.

Only if it gets really bad.

How bad is really bad? lol. I mean of course just like any other infection it pusses a little and is really tender. . .

Like, really bad. It can get in your blood stream but if you're cleaning it 3 times a day and not touching it, then you shouldn't have any issues with it healing up! Also, my cartilage piercing took months to heal. One of them I ended up taking out after like 9 months because it still hurt, so hopefully yours heals quicker

Like if it starts smelling like rotten meat and is really swollen and you have blood streaked puss and it is green and stuff like that. That would be really bad.

I took my nose piercing out. It started getting infected, then bam, found out I was pregnant. I took it out because I was too lazy to fight to keep it. I can just repierce it later.
