Induction

posted 5th Mar
How many centimeters dialated and how effaced would you most likely have to be in order for induction to not end in c section? Like what is the most favorable situation?

I'm waiting for labor naturally but I'd just like to know

It would depend on how long you've been in one spot or if you aren't progressing. Doctors have no patience these days *sigh*

Oh and when they started the induction I was 2cm and 80% effaced. It is true that inductions are more likely to work if you have a favorable cervix.

I don't remember how effaced I was. But I was 1cm dialated. I delivered vaginally. I was told there was a very high possibility I would have a csection but that they would let me attempt a vaginal delivery. I had faith in myself and did it even though they all said I couldn't do it.

I was induced and made It to 10 cm and 100% effaced and pushed for 2 hours but my contractions were irregular and he was too high up so I had to have a csection.

I was 1 cm dilated when I went in for my induction at 40+ weeks. But I started going into labor naturally when I got there. Labored for 6 hours, pushed for 10 minutes..my friend was induced at 40+ weeks with no progress and was in labor for over 24 hours and was able to deliver vaginally...

I was 1 cm and 100% effaced when I was induced. The doctor never brought up a c section.

My doctor told me that a lot of inductions end up a c-section. I'm not sure if this is true or not, I never looked it up.

I was induced and ended up having a c-section, I was 2cm

My cousin was induced she had a c-section.

My SIL was also induced and she had a vaginal birth.

I honestly think that's what happen with me. I wasn't even in labor for more than a couple of hours before they started talking c-section.

My cousin and I had our daughters at the same hospital and we both ended up with on call doctors there and both ended up having c-sections.

It depends on the person.
I was closed, hard and thick when I was induced and the word c-section never even came up.

I started my induction via cervidil at 6am Thursday. Had 2 12 hour doses of it. Pitocin started at 8am Friday. Pushed for 2 hours and had him at 11:48pm Friday Night. He was 9lbs 15oz too ;)

I was about 2cm, and 75% when I went to be induced. I was only 35w 5d and everything went perfect. She was born within 12 hours of the start of my induction.

It's different for everyone though.

I was in labor for almost 2 days & never dilated past 2cm, I ended up with a c-section...it is really about lack of progression in that instance & if the baby is showing any signs of distress or if your water has been broken for a certain amount of time & you not being fully dilated,

I was 2 cm dilated (and had been for a few weeks) and was only in labor 7 1/2 hours. No c-section. No kind of complications.

I had a csection as well. It was never brought up until I had pushed for 2 hours. I was having irregular contractions, baby was still high, I was so exhausted from being in labor for 34 hours at that point and no food or sleep for close to 48 hours... My induction wasn't even medically necessary - i was about 39 weeks and showing signs of PRE pre eclampsia ?? :-/

I am a lot more educated on everything now. MY next labor I will not be induced UNLESS medically necessary. I will move around as I please, I will eat/drink as I please and I will have no interventions of any kind!

My doctor brought it up after they said I wasn't moving up, yet I went from 2-5 in just a couple of hours

They had an usual amount of births that night I went in so I think they just wanted to get through them. I wish I had NEVER had my daughter at that hospital, I should have listened to my dad and had her at the hospital he suggested. I had to have two epis because the first one wasn't placed right. I was moved from one room to another during my labor for what ever reason. Then after I had my daughter and it was time to go home the nurse I had that day was practically throwing my stuff in bags getting me out of my room. The whole time I was there I only had one nurse I liked and that was the one I had during labor.

You could have definitely had that baby vaginally I am sure!! Gosh I just hate hearing people's stories...It gets me all worked up.. Im still not at peace with mine!!

Man our stories sound so similar!! Except my doctor really was patient with the whole process and with letting me take my time on dilating. He even brought up a VBAC during my csection. I know HE knows I could've had a vaginal birth if I wasn't induced. Sometimes I wonder if HE feels guilty at all... I sure would if I were him

I think they induced me because my due date was Christmas eve and I was delivering at a very small hospital where the family birth center will often have ZERO patients. They wanted to prevent someone coming in over Christmas I guess. I also had the epidural placed 2 times! The first time he put it in wrong. That was actually the worst part of my whole labor and just another reason why I wont get one again. I think he placed it wrong the 2nd time because I could feel everything still and he came back 3 different times to "up my dose." I wasn't rushed out though I was in the hospital from Friday to Thursday! It sucked... I hope to never have a csection again!
